Tomatoes are good and good for you.   They are versatile and come in many varieties.  Lycopene is the carotenoid which gives tomatoes (as well as other fruits & vegetables) their red color.  In addition go giving things a lively red color, lycopene is an antioxidant which decreases the chance of cancer and heart disease.  And the process of cooking tomatoes actually makes them healthier for you.


So, whether you like them raw in salads or on a sandwich or if you use them cooked in sauces or stews, tomatoes are good for you and can be a healthy and delicious part of your diet.
