New Years’ Resolutions?

New Years’ Resolutions?

Do you make New Years’ Resolutions?

I don’t.  I don’t know why – I could certainly use some improvement in many areas.  But for some reason it seems very daunting to me.  How to live up to those stated expectations when I haven’t been able to do it so far in my life?

I was listening to a discussion on NPR yesterday while riding in my car, and I found it interesting.  This link will take you there, and it’s about 45 minutes long, so good for travel or exercise time.  The guest, a psychologist named Jeremy Dean, makes good suggestions about how to break old habits and create new ones, including,

  • importance of making specific goals as well as
  • the importance of  understanding why we cling to old habits

I guess it’s too late to make a real New Year’s Resolution for 2013, but it’s never too late to try to create better habits.
